FaithWalk is an adult weekend that aims to concentrate closely on the person of Jesus Christ and his teachings. While FaithWalk explores the basic Christian beliefs, it is best described as a spiritual encounter with Christ. Many who have attended the weekend have experienced a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Christ as they sense his love in a dynamic way.

FaithWalk is designed for those who desire to strengthen their faith and be brought closer to Christ. It is for all Christian denominations and is best described as a planned weekend to encourage continued spiritual growth in your personal relationship with Christ. A large number of those who have attended the FaithWalk weekend have experienced a strengthening of their walk. They encounter His love in a dynamic way and are encouraged to help one another live and grow in the Christian life and to become more active in the local church God has placed them.

FaithWalk begins on a Thursday evening and ends the following Sunday evening. The weekend is led by past attendees of a FaithWalk or similar weekend like Tres Dias, Cursillo Walk to Emmaus or ACTS. They have volunteered their time for months of preparation by working and praying together as a unit. FaithWalk presents the basics of life as a disciple of Jesus, the meaning of discipleship and its application in our daily lives. The weekend is centered around talks given by laypeople and pastors. Attendees are assigned to table groups to discuss each talk. The discourse that develops from these discussions makes Christ’s teachings come alive. There are also chapel services designed to give the attendee a chance to experience forgiveness, and other events that show the attendee tangible evidence of God’s love. FaithWalk is not intended to be a ‘mountaintop experience’, but a life-changing encounter with God that will send the attendee back to his family, friends, work, and church to be a better disciple of Christ. Doing so, FaithWalk takes the attendee from attendee to Disciple to Disciple Maker.

Just as Christ meets you at your point of need, so FaithWalk is designed for those who desire to be strengthened in their faith and to be brought closer to Christ in their discipleship. FaithWalk is for Christians of all denominations. The weekend is not necessarily for new believers, but for those who understand God’s grace. It is especially gratifying for those who are in leadership within the church. There are weekends for men and women. If you are married, the husband is encouraged to attend first.

FaithWalk began in 2001, when the Lord began to draw people from similar weekends to Bartlett, Tennessee. As they began to pray together, the Lord began to show them the need for a weekend that would impact individuals and send them back to their local churches to serve. Thus, the dream of FaithWalk began. The purpose from the beginning would be “to strengthen and develop leaders in all Christian churches”. But three seemingly insurmountable challenges would surface. First, they would need at least 35 people who had gone through a weekend to serve as the Weekend Team. Second, they would need a little over nine thousand dollars to purchase the initial supplies. Third, they would need another community to come along side them and help create a FaithWalk Manual which would serve to define and guide the Weekend activities. Within a year, the Lord miraculously provided all three in ways that were so unusual that it could have only been accomplished by a sovereign God! Discipleship Walk of Memphis, TN, came along side. Half of the FaithWalks #1 and #2 Teams (Oct 2003) were made up of Discipleship Walk members. There were 16 male and 16 female attendees who attended the first and second Faith Walks, respectively. And donations were received which allowed for the purchase of Weekend supplies. The birth of FaithWalk had taken place and the spirit of God had moved in a powerful, strong way – and beyond their wildest dreams! Today, the FaithWalk Team leading the Weekend is composed of members from over 100 churches, 17 different states and 3 different countries. We have only just begun and we believe we can play a role in strengthening the body of Christ around the world.

One’s life after a FaithWalk weekend is called the Fourth Day. Following FaithWalk, an individual may desire to continue in the strengthening of his or her spiritual life and become a more active disciple of Christ in the world and in the church. Pursuing a relationship with Christ is important. Continued contact with FaithWalk community members on a regular basis will enhance this growth. Reunions of smaller groups are also encouraged so that the participants may help one another in living the Christian life.
